Independent Test Results

Results below were produced in independent laboratory testing on clean, hard, nonporous test surfaces. Each figure applies only to the organism, exposure time, and distance shown.

UV-C treatment results by organism, exposure time, and distance
Organism Reduction Exposure time Distance Surface
Staphylococcus aureus 99.9% 15 seconds 12.7 cm Clean, hard, nonporous
Escherichia coli 99.99% 24 seconds 12.7 cm Clean, hard, nonporous
SARS-CoV-2 99.9% 32 seconds 12.7 cm Clean, hard, nonporous
SARS-CoV-2 99.99% 64 seconds 6.5 cm Clean, hard, nonporous

Results apply only to the tested organisms, surfaces, distances, and exposure times shown. Performance on other surfaces or at other distances has not been established. Remove visible soil before treatment. UVCeed is an added step after cleaning, not a replacement for it.

Laboratory examples. These photographs illustrate culture plates from laboratory testing. They are not produced by the UVCeed app and are not a live view of a treated surface. The app measures delivered UV-C dose; it does not observe microorganisms.

Disinfectant products must be used according to their label, including any required wet contact time. UVCeed provides a reusable, liquid-free treatment option for approved uses.

Before you buy

Use It Correctly

UV-C only treats what the light reaches, at the dose it delivers. These are the conditions that determine whether a treatment works.

  • Clean first

Remove visible soil before treatment. UVCeed is an added step after cleaning, not a replacement for it, and UV-C is far less effective on soiled surfaces.

  • Stay within range

Hold the device within the treatment range given in the operating instructions. Distance changes the delivered dose, which is why the app measures it rather than running a fixed timer.

  • Direct exposure only

UV-C treats only surfaces the light reaches directly. Shadowed, obstructed, or angled areas are not treated.

  • Reposition for shaded areas

If the app reports “Coverage incomplete”, move the device or rotate the item so each face is exposed, and treat again.

  • Approved materials

Designed for clean, dry, hard, nonporous surfaces. Porous items, fabrics, and liquids are outside the tested scope, and UVCeed is not for direct treatment of food or water.

  • Never at skin or eyes

Treatment stops automatically when the system detects a person, pet, hand, or face, but you must still never direct UV-C at skin or eyes. Use only as instructed and keep out of reach of unsupervised children.

Full operating instructions, including the specified treatment range and material guidance, ship with the device and are available in the support documentation.

Your Questions, Answered

Clear explanations about how UVCeed works, addressing common questions from our viral videos.

Does my iPhone flash actually disinfect things?

Viral Question

No, your iPhone flash does not disinfect anything. In our viral video, the iPhone is just providing visual feedback through our app - it is UVCeed 254 nm UV-C LED doing the actual treatment.

Actual UV-C

The app shows coverage and delivered dose as you work and reports when the target dose has been reached. Think of it as a smart timer with visual feedback - the science happens in the UVCeed device.

How does UVCeed actually work then?

UVCeed contains a 254 nm UV-C LED, a wavelength in the germicidal range. This is the same technology hospitals use for disinfection.

The iPhone integration serves three purposes: 1) Power control through the app, 2) Real-time progress tracking, and 3) Safety monitoring with automatic shut-off.

The actual disinfection happens when UV-C light from UVCeed's LED hits the surface, breaking down harmful microorganisms in just 30 seconds.

What makes this different from other UV sanitizers?

Most UV sanitizers are boxes that only treat items small enough to fit inside. UVCeed clips to your phone, so you bring it to the surface instead - restaurant tables, gym equipment, office keyboards. It is designed for clean, dry, hard, nonporous surfaces within the specified treatment range; shaded or obstructed areas require repositioning.

The iPhone integration also provides something no other UV device offers: real-time visual confirmation that disinfection is actually happening and when it's complete.

Plus, it's pocket-sized and goes wherever your phone goes, so you're never without protection.

Is this just for germaphobes?

Viral Question

Not at all. UVCeed is for anyone who wants to see the UV-C dose they deliver rather than guess at it. It's about visible confidence.

Our users include busy parents, frequent travelers, gym-goers, office workers, and healthcare professionals who want visible confirmation of cleanliness.

Think of it like having a flashlight for germs - it's a practical tool that gives you information and control, not fear.

Is UV-C light safe to use around people?

Designed with automatic exposure safeguards. Treatment stops when the system detects a person, pet, hand, or face. Never direct UV-C at skin or eyes; use only as instructed. The device only operates when properly positioned on a surface, and the app monitors the entire treatment.

The UV-C light is directed downward onto surfaces and automatically stops if the device is moved or lifted during operation.

Designed with automatic exposure safeguards. Treatment stops when the system detects a person, pet, hand, or face. Never direct UV-C at skin or eyes; use only as instructed.

How do I know it is actually working?

In independent laboratory testing on clean, hard, nonporous test surfaces: S. aureus, 99.9% reduction in 15 seconds at 12.7 cm; E. coli, 99.99% in 24 seconds at 12.7 cm; SARS-CoV-2, 99.9% in 32 seconds at 12.7 cm and 99.99% in 64 seconds at 6.5 cm. Results apply only to tested conditions. The app shows where the target UV-C dose has been delivered and reports when the target has been reached.

Plus, UVCeed is used in professional settings including Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital, where effectiveness isn't optional - it's verified.

Unlike chemical wipes or sprays, you can actually see the UV-C light working and get confirmation when the cycle is complete.

Does UVCeed work with Android phones?

Absolutely! UVCeed works seamlessly with Android devices. The UVCeed app is available for free download on the Google Play Store with all the same features as the iOS version.

For Android phones and other devices without MagSafe, we include a premium metal plate adapter in every package. Simply attach the adapter to your phone or case, and UVCeed will snap on securely - giving you the same magnetic convenience iPhone users enjoy.

Whether you're team iPhone or team Android, you'll get the same powerful UV-C disinfection with real-time visual feedback through your phone's screen.
